Conscious Route:
Conscious Route is a rapper, poet and singer-songwriter. Born in London, he grew up in Herfordshire, near Cambridge, before moving to Edinburgh, where he is now based. This influential character has done a lot in a short time, creating the Conscious Route band as well as his new band project, The Urban Folk Crowd. In the past, Conscious Route has had releases with Fugazirum (where he was better known then as Mosman) and, in the last 6 months, he has released two E.P.s with fellow rapper, Werd SOS; the 'Nowdays' E.P. and the 'Hear No, See No, Speak No Evil' E.P., also featuring Blasfime Sinna. Conscious Route has also founded the CCF movement (Conscious Collaboration Front) as well as organising the Conscious Collective events. With a string of features with known artist and upcoming acts this rapper is not shy of grafting his expression and bringing positive rythmes with heavy flows of reality in his verses. Definitely one to watch for the future...

Blasfima Sinna:
Blasfima Sinna, aka DJ U-turn, is an experienced UK Hip Hop artist. Born in Johannesburg, South Africa to Scottish parents, he started making his name on the Edinburgh DJ scene in 1997, becoming Scottish DMC DJ Champion in 2005. This acheivement led to qualification as a UK DMC Finalist at Shepherds Bush Empire, London. In 2005 DJ U-turn also began recording as an MC with Hudson Mohawk (aka Itchy). Around 2006 U-turn started recording rhymes under the alias Blasfima Sinna and formed a rap group called 'Evil Residents' with Madhat McGore and Riddlah (UVBeatz). 2009 saw Blasfima Sinna release two Projects with MCF Records ( The 'Capital Letters' E.P and The 'Quarantine' Album). He left MCF in 2010 but continued to record, releasing 'The Medici Project' with production from Nasty P. These days Blasfima Sinna / U-turn is working closely with Werd (S.O.S) and Conscious Route.

The E.P.
Conscious Route and Blasfima Sinna met by chance when Werd introduced them at the SOS headquaters, shortly after the 'Hear No, See No, Speak No Evil' E.p was born. Finding a deep connection, and being of like minds and attitudes, the pair decided to do record together. The resulting E.P. is a blend of heavy beats and conscious rhyming, bringing deep flows over Lacuna Beats' production, with all the vocals recorded, mixed and mastered at SOS headquarters by Drew Devine.

This E.P. side-steps the gun talk that characterises a lot of mainstream hip-hop, opting instead to draw on influences such as the, more positive, 1990s Native Tongues movement:

Track-List:

1. Flight of the Ambitious (Conscious Route and Blasfima Sinna)

This track, which was written on the spot, sees the two lyricists going back-and-forth to show their growing confidence to reach their goals. This affirmation-in -song is held together by fearsome cutting from Blasfima aka DJ U-Turn.

2. Envy Change (Conscious Route and Blasfima Sinna feat. ST)

ST, who is better known on the hip-hop battle circuit as Mr. MacKenzie, guests on this haunting track. When not taking out other rappers on the battle circuit, ST also rhymes with the heavily respected CatchKlick Emceez. The three lyricists take a verse apiece to speak on how they have grown from the issues of their past. The emotional word-play is laid across an atmospheric string melody to set the tone for this dark journey.

3. The Meeting (Conscious Route and Blasfima Sinna)

This autobiographical tune sees the duo explaining how they came together and the obstacles they have faced since working together. With heavy beats, on-point rhyming and U-Turn's deft cuts, this track certainly shows that Conscious Route and Blasfima Sinna are not to be taken for fools.

4. Scene (Conscious Route and Blasfima Sinna feat. Werd)

Conscious Route and Blasfimma Sinna join forces with the man who brought them together for this call for recognition. Werd is an influential member of the Scottish hip-hop scene, having built up an international fan-base with his extensive discography of releases. Werd also recently won the award for 'Urban New Recording of the Year' at the Scottish New Music Awards. The trio deliver on how they are treated by labels, fans and other artists as they seek ever-greater recognition from a culture that blankets and ignores instead of supporting its talent. 'Scene' is a driving track, complete with the firing hook, “You know who we are, you know who it is!”

5.Runners (Conscious Route and Blasfima Sinna)

'Runners' sees Conscious Route and Blasfima Sinna talk about running from issues to running those who start beef out the race. While Conscious Route brings insight to those that flee their troubles, Blasfima Sinna keeps the punch lines rolling with venom while also flexing on some personal woes.

6.Finding Insight (Conscious Route and Blasfima Sinna feat. Kayce One)

Bravado-filled drops and reflective punch-lines come together as Glasgow's Kayce One comes through for this final track. Kayce One has been blowing up on the battle scene and radio, as well as performing and recording as one of the Shadow People. Kayce One recently performed his debut album, 'Alphabetics' on Ally McCrae's BBC Introducing show in Scotland. 'Finding Insight' rounds off the six-track selection with some style as the rappers detail their personal journeys and the differences between rumour and reality.
